I initiated discussions with an enthusiastic Design Team some time ago regarding multiple semi transparent solar panels forming the 4000 square metre roof of the conceptual Bridge design.

Here we have SOLAR PANELS AS ROOF, not SOLAR PANELS ON ROOF. This will leave the History Handrail and the stories of migration on the surfaces of the Bridge bathed in light, protect visitors from the worst of the elements and at the same time generate green electricity for the grid and be responsible for nearly 800 tonnes of CO2 abatement per year.

The sheer size of the roof will be a spectacular architectural showcase for solar ideas in the national capital, and we are even exploring the idea of creating the Southern Hemisphere's first Solar Stock Exchange based of the energy output of the Bridge and the anticipated carbon credits.
